Belmullet Tidy Towns will host an information evening on the national Tidy Towns adjudication process on Monday October 22 in The Talbot Hotel function room, Barrack Street, Belmullet.

A tree survey, community gardens, a bug hotel, and a wildlife walk are among the environmental projects in Westmeath to benefit from funding announced this week.

Westport continued its winning streak this week as it was named Ireland’s Tidiest Large Town, in the SuperValu Tidy Towns Awards for 2012, at an awards ceremony which was held in Dublin on Monday. Westport was just one point behind the winner of the Tidiest Town in Ireland for 2012, which was awarded to Abbeyshrule.

Belmullet Tidy Towns would like to extend a sincere note of thanks to Cllr Rose Walsh for the recent allocation of €1,100 towards the work of Belmullet Tidy Towns.

With 289 points in 2011, Belmullet is now the Tidiest Small Town (Category C) in not only Mayo, but also in Connacht, needing another 21 points to win the competition nationally.

Ballinrobe Tidy Towns will conduct a clean-up of the church grounds on Saturday May 12 at 10am in advance of the Communions. Please lend a hand. 

The first Castlebar Tidy Towns Good Friday clean up takes place on Friday April 6 from 10am until noon, assembling at SuperValu, Castlebar.

The next meeting will be on Wednesday March 21 at 8pm in the Parish Centre.

A meeting of the Tidy Towns will be held on Wednesday February 1 at 8pm in the parish centre to discuss plans for 2012. New members are encouraged to come along and get involved.

Westmeath’s Tidy Towns winners received their awards at a prizegiving ceremony in Co Louth last Friday.
